Singleton took Matt Shoemaker deep in the eighth inning after committing two errors and striking out twice before then. On Monday, Singleton signed a five-year, $10 million guaranteed contract that could reach up to $30 million if all incentives are reached.

Singleton was batting .267 with 14 homers and 43 RBIs for Triple-A Oklahoma City before being sent to the majors.

There is some risk associated with Singleton as he served a 50 game ban in 2013 for testing positive for marijuana a second time. He told the Associated Press at spring training that he spent a month in a rehabilitation center to deal with this issue.

The Astros are gambling on young players to develop at the same time and form a winner. Singleton figures to be a big piece of the puzzle along with the emerging George Springer, Matt Dominguez as well as former number one overall picks Mark Appel and Carlos Correa.

Japanese Pitcher Throws Crazy Moon Ball Eephus Pitch

Kazuhito Tadano threw a sneaky pitch for the ages when he threw one a mile-high and had it hit the center of the catcher's glove.

Tadano, who pitched in the MLB for the Cleveland Indians in 2004 and 2005, has made these sorts of attempts before, but this one my take the cake.

It's unclear who was more surprised by the pitch, the hitter or the umpire?

One Year of Puig

On June 3, 2013, Yasiel Puig made his major league debut and has become one of the most recognizable faces in the game since.

He started his career with a bang by executing a double play on a fly ball to the outfield in his first game. Puig had made many plays like that in his first season in the majors, but has also been a very reckless player as well.

Puig has made many simple errors both in the field and the bases. His worst moment may have come in the final game of the 2013 National League Divisional Series when he made two costly errors in the field.

Though Puig is still quite raw and has tons to learn, he appears to be learning at a rapid rate. Puig has cut down on the number of balls out of the strike zone that he swings at every month that he has been in the majors and works pitchers much harder as a result.

Puig has played 157 regular season games in his first calendar year in the majors, hitting .326 with 30 home runs. Being just 23-years old, Puig has a chance to be a player that transcends the game of baseball.

Baltimore Orioles outfielder Nelson Cruz is listed as day-to-day with a bruised hand he suffered in the third inning of the Orioles' 9-4 win over the Houston Astros.

Cruz was hit on his left hand by Scott Feldman in the third inning of the game and was removed from the game. X-Rays were done on the hand and came back negative.

Cruz currently leads the majors in home runs with 20 and RBIs with 52. Cruz is also carrying a .314 batting average in his first year in Baltimore. He left the Texas Rangers as a free agent following a 50 game suspension in the Biogenesis case in 2013.

The Orioles have a record of 28-27 and are 4.5 games back of the Toronto Blue Jays in the American League East.
